The SDS library for a sample company: eight chemicals with manufacturer, department, the sites each applies to, and its sheet or No sheet.

The chemical library

Add a chemical with its name, manufacturer and department, then attach its sheet or link to one. Sheets can be PDF, PNG or JPG files up to 25 MB. Each chemical lists the sites it applies to, or reads Not site-specific. Search the library by chemical, manufacturer or department.

A binder for each site

An admin publishes a site's binder from the Sites page, and turning it off takes effect at once. The binder shows the chemicals linked to that site and no others. Workers open it on a phone with no sign-in, and the list narrows as they type a name or manufacturer. Search engines are told not to index it.

A site's chemical binder on a phone, opened without signing in: a search box and seven chemicals with their manufacturers.

On the wall and on paper

Each binder has a letter-size poster with its QR code and the link printed underneath. A printable index lists the site's chemicals and flags any with no sheet on file. If a binder link is turned off, the page points to the container label and says what to do after an exposure.

Chemicals in an emergency

A chemical spill event can name the chemicals involved, up to 12. The chemical shows on the live board, the muster-point tablet and the after-action report. The tablet links to the full sheet when that site's binder is published.

What Safety data sheets is not

Replacing a sheet replaces the file, and earlier versions are not kept. The printed index does not claim to satisfy any regulation.

Do workers need an account to open the binder?
No. The binder opens on a phone with no app and no password.
What does a worker see if a binder link is turned off?
A page that points to the container label and the printed binder, and says what to do if someone has been exposed.
Who can change the library?
Admins and safety managers. Viewers are sent to the dashboard.
